Children arrive to a calm room and a familiar face. There is no expectation to be ready straight away. The first part of the morning is simply about feeling safe enough to join in.

Five mornings in the September school holidays for children aged 4 to 7, led by Eluma's Early Childhood Intervention team in Cranbourne North. A small group of eight, working on the listening, turn-taking, attention and resilience that make kinder and school feel possible. Guided by DIRFloortime principles, children learn through play, connection and shared group experiences.

Children with NDIS funding can use their Capacity Building budget to attend, and because we are a registered provider it can be claimed directly. If you are unsure what your child's plan covers, or you are still waiting on one, talk to us. There may be a way forward we can find together.

The group practises noticing and naming how they feel. Putting words to emotion is the quiet groundwork for everything that follows.

Play
Practice through play
Following the child's lead, our team uses DIRFloortime, an approach that builds communication and flexible thinking through relationship and play, rather than drills. Skills grow because a child wants to stay in the moment with someone.

Reset and a gentle close
The morning winds down with a shared, predictable ending: a chance to regulate, reflect, and carry something home. Families hear how the session went, not just that it happened.
Why the holidays
A week without the school-day rush is a good time to practise the school-day skills.
During term, everything competes for a child's attention. In the holidays the mornings are quieter, and five consecutive days let a child settle on Monday and build on it on Tuesday, rather than starting again each week. For children heading into kinder or Prep next year, it is a run-up at the year ahead. For children already at school, it is a chance to practise the parts that have been hard, away from the classroom where it was hard.

Most families use NDIS funding for the program, but it isn't a requirement to start a conversation. When you register, we'll talk through how the program fits your child's plan, or what the options are if there isn't one yet.
Yes. Many of the children who come to us are trying a group for the first time. The group is small and the pace is gentle, and our team is there to help every child find their footing.
Some mornings are easier than others, and that's expected. Our team works with each child where they are. A hard moment is something we help them move through, not a reason to step back.
Eluma's Early Childhood Intervention team. Every practitioner trained as an early childhood teacher before moving into early intervention work, and each is certified in DIRFloortime.
Yes. Families come from Cranbourne, Clyde, Berwick, Narre Warren, Lyndhurst, Hampton Park and across the City of Casey. If mornings in Cranbourne North work for you, you are welcome. Exact location details are provided upon confirmed registration.
A water bottle and a snack. We'll send everything else you need once a place is confirmed.
For some families, the week is all they need. For others, it's a first step. There's no expectation either way. If it's useful to keep going, we'll talk about what that could look like.
