Our Approach
We're teachers who became intervention specialists
Every Early Intervention Specialist at Eluma holds a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and brings at least five years of classroom teaching experience. Senior practitioners bring ten or more years. Every practitioner is DIRFloortime certified.
This is unusual in our field, and it matters: the person who walks into your home is not learning how children work. She has spent years with thirty children a day before she ever started doing therapeutic work.
How ECI differs from seeing an OT
Many families come to us after seeing separate OTs and speech therapists. Often those therapists are excellent. But families tell us something was missing. Nobody was looking at the whole child, across all the places they live and learn, and working with the whole family as a team.
We don't replace your child's OT or speech therapist. We provide the relational, developmental foundation that makes everything else work better.
What is DIRFloortime?
Eluma's approach is grounded in DIRFloortime, the Developmental, Individual-difference, Relationship-based model. It's relational, child-led, and explicitly different from behavioural conditioning models.
DIRFloortime works with your child's natural interests and motivations, building connection and communication through play. It has a substantial body of published research supporting its effectiveness.
